Chichester is a cathedral city in West Sussex, which has been permanently settled since Roman times. The most obvious landmark is naturally the cathedral, however, other attractions include the remains of a Roman amphitheatre and the Butter Market in North Street. The town hosts the annual three-week “Chichester Festivities” in July and regular performances at the prestigious Chichester Festival Theatre, which attracts actors, writers and directors from the West End theatre. Chichester is easily reached from London, Eastbourne and Southampton.
